Cancer in Nollywood: The Deceased, Survivors and Warriors (PHOTOS).

They may be good looking, wealthy and famous, but Nollywood stars are humans too, and they are prone to falling sick like every other person.

For years there was the general belief that cancer was the sickness of the poor, but that myth has since been cast. In recent times, cancer has became a major sickness in Nollywood. While some stars didn't survive , other overcame it while some are still battling with it.

The Deceased

Aishat Abimbola

Nollywood actress, Aishat Abimbola popularly known as Omoge Campus, died of breast cancer in May 2015.

Iyabo Bukky Osadare

In November 2019, Nollywood actress, Iyabo Bukky Osadare died after a long fight with breast cancer.

Ola Omonitan

In October 2018, Veteran Nollywood actor Ola Omonitan popularly known as Ajimajasan died after battling cancer. According to reports, he had been suffering from an enlarged heart, spinal cord problem and prostate cancer. 

Taiwo Bello

Until is death in 2012, Taiwo bello was one of the best directors in Nollywood. The late Taiwo co-wrote the hit movie, Jenifa, with Funke Akindele and produced and directed other top notch movies. He died on the 13th of April 2012 after being bedridden for months with cancer. 

Remi Abiola

Veteran actress and and spouse of the late Moshood Abiola died in New York City on the 29th of July 2009 after losing a battle with cancer. 

The Survivors

Banky W

Nigerian singer and actor, Olubankole Wellingtonpopularly known by his stage name Banky W had a successful skin cancer surgery on his shoulder in 2017. Today he is cancer free.

Juliet Uzoma-Aguwa 

In 2008, Ex-Nollywood actress Juliet Uzoma-Aguwa was diagnosed with breast cancer. Miraculously she survived it and has been living fine since then.

The Warriors

Ify Onwuemene

Nollywood actress Ify Onwuemene has been battling with endometrial cancer. With your prayers and funds, she can regain her health.

Sadiq Daba

Veteran Nollywood actor Sadiq Daba is currently battling leukemia and prostrate cancer. With your prayers and funds, he can regain his health.
